Flashback on FIVE Years of Wyatt
5 Years Old and thinks he's too big to sit in the little chairs in Primary now- what will we do?Wyatt is such a joy in our home. He is ever the peacemaker- question asker- and giver of hugs and 'I love ya's'. He's growing to be such a kind friend and lover of everything outdoors like his dad. Happy Birthday Wy-Guy!

Spring Cleaning Motivation
http://ahappyhomeisaretrohome.blogspot.com/
She inspired me to get my lists ready on what exactly needs to be done in every room in my house for spring cleaning. It's pretty extensive. Although we have two birthdays this week, I'm going to try my hardest to get crackin on this list. I'd post mine for you, but it's crazy long. So click the link above and then go to her blog archive for her spring cleaning lists by room. You'll hate me for it, but your house will be heavenly. At least I hope mine will be.
Soakin up the Sun
We did head to the strip the second night. We went to the MGM grand and showed the kids the lions. Then we headed to the 'Princess Castle' or Excalibur for Livvy, then to New York, New York. We had aspirations to see the rest of the strip the following nights, but after long days at the pool we opted for outlet shopping and buffet eating instead. Here we are in front of the Coyote Ugly bar. Side note- The night all of these pictures were taken, I had rushed to get ready- I mean I have three people to get ready to everyone else's one- so I'm a little hideous- overlook it.
Wyatt, Livvy and Weston were stoked to see this Giant SpongeBob inside Excalibur.
We also went to this neat aquarium outside the Bass Pro Shop. It has REAL mermaids in it Thurs- Sun. Of course we were only there Mon- Wed, so we missed the real mermaids. Livvy was bummed until she saw the monstrous fish. They were so cool. And they had a scuba diver inside cleaning the tank while we were there- as you can see from the second picture- Wyatt is in total awe.
Lots more pictures to come- we took turns taking pictures with everyone's camera and I'm not sure when I'll get them all from all the girls.....but stay tuned.

Brag moment
Today I purchased the following picture:
- 10 packages of pasta (on sale for .49 cents!)
- 4 packages of diapers and 1 package of wipes (using coupons on a great sale price. BTW one is missing from the picture because I already gave it to my sis)
- THEN I received a Register Rewards worth of $10 my next purchase. So I then turned around and bought all of the following items that were on a great sale for FREE!!!!
- 5 total Garnier products- shampoo, conditioner, and Hair putty for Livvy.
- Ajax dish soap
- Ajax cleaner SO the total price: $104.22. Less the coupons, discounts, etc. of $66.17 and I paid a whopping $38.05 for the total above picture. That's a savings of 63%. I'm sure I can do better if I keep working at it. But a pretty good second effort.
Then I planted my seeds today for our future garden this summer. You can even see a few little sprouts already from what I planted the other day. So far: broccoli, parsley, peppers, red peppers, and lettuce! Thanks to my friend Kim for motivating me and getting me interested in gardening- keep pushing me along Kim!
So- all you who know me really well- Aren't you proud?Saturday, March 7, 2009
I'm committed
1) theobsessiveshopper.net (Thanks Amber!) This lady has a great system for saving lots of money on your groceries. I tried it this last weekend at Walmart (using their price-match) and it works! I was so excited.....just ask Shelby. He's getting quite sick of hearing about all of my good deals :)
2) foodstoragemadeeasy.net. Two friends that have a "Baby Step" approach to gathering food storage. But they also send you great email reminders and helps for the steps as you go and include awesome excel checklists to get all areas of Emergency Preparedness, etc. in order. Love it.
3) YNAB.com (Thanks Sadie!) I downloaded their budgeting software and I'm addicted. I'm pretty sure I play with it two or three times a week.
4) mysquarefootgarden.net. I found out what 'color' of area I live in and this lady sends me weekly emails telling me what seeds to plant indoors, what to transplant that week, etc. She also has great information on her website. I am going to get serious about gardening this year, thanks to lots of help from my friend Kim. She's motivating me!
It feels so great to get a handle on the things that keep bugging you about being a housewife. Next up----finish my spring cleaning. You betcha.

Wyatt Update
Wednesday- I attended Wyatt's annual IEP (Individualized Education Plan) meeting. The attendees included Wyatt's preschool teacher, his speech therapist, his occupational therapist, his possible future kindergarten teacher, me, and the director of special services for the elementary school. I dread these meetings for weeks. I have to really concentrate not to get nauseous on my way into the school and my stomach is in knots the entire time. Also- it's a pretty safe bet that I cry. These ladies are sweet, caring, kind, and very knowledgeable, but it's pure torture to hear the bitter hard truth sometimes. Even when YOU already know it, it's still hard to hear.
They had a list of many things that they were concerned about with Wyatt. Characteristics that he was demonstrating and behaviors, etc. We were all very concerned as well with his lack of progress with his fine motor skills. Two years of occupational therapy later and the poor kid still can't hold a pencil correctly or trace a simple 'W'. We were trying to come to a conclusion whether Wyatt should continue on to kindergarten as scheduled or remain in his preschool class for one more year. The verdict is still out....more posts on that later I'm sure. But one of the main topics of conversation was obtaining a more concrete diagnosis for Wyatt so that when he does enter the more general ed. courses, he can qualify for the specialized services and help that he will need.
Now, opinions varied, but some felt that Wyatt expressed 'High Functioning' Autistic tendencies. Other felt perhaps he had ADD. Any parent that hears the words 'Autistic' feels their heart drop into their shoes. I wasn't a silent individual in the room- I let my opinions and concerns be heard as well. But still left feeling very overwhelmed and scared out of my mind.
I cried for several hours on the way to Tremonton, and then a still small voice seemed to come to my mind telling me to call Wyatt's pediatrician in Brigham City that I have consulted with on Wyatt's development many times before and see if he had any openings to see Wyatt while I was there. We went this morning and I walked in armed with a list of behaviors and concerns I had about Wyatt.
Dr. Lloyd instantly was glad to see us and told me that he was thrilled that we were there because he had been concerned about Wyatt and wanted to call and see how he was developing. That's a good, caring doctor for you. He spent an HOUR with me in that room. We went through every item on my list and discussed it. He asked me questions that were almost as long as my list. He also spent lots of time conversing with Wyatt and having him 'show off' his new found hopping skills.
The good news: Dr. Lloyd emphatically declared that "Wyatt does not have Autism. He does not have ADD. He has symptoms and characteristics of both that would make one think along those lines, but he does not have those diagnosis." HOOORAY!
The other news: He referred me to a Developmental Pediatrician in Salt Lake that will do more observations and see what our next steps may be to providing Wyatt with an official diagnosis. He is also going to the University of Utah Hospital system to the 'Genetics' department to have his DNA tested and see if he is possibly missing a chromosome. Having done some research on this, Wyatt does seem to fit most of the profiles of a child that may have a chromosome missing. I don't know what that might possibly mean for his future treatment and therapy, or the help that he may need in school, but I am finally confident that we are on the right path to a correct answer.
