Day Trip to Trinity Lakes

Last Saturday Shelby and I decided that we had to get out of town and do something fun. He had heard a lot about Trinity Lakes that are located north of Anderson Reservoir and wanted to go check them out. It sounded like a great day to me. We drove for just over 2 hours, but this was the view that awaited us. It was beautiful there and the lakes were seriously on the tip top of the tallest mountain.

The kids loved to 'fish'. We didn't get there until almost lunch time, so most of the fish had quit biting, but we did catch two smaller ones that the kids thought were 'awesome'.

My studly husband- there's just something really wonderful about a father who sincerely enjoys spending time and building memories with his family. It does it for me every time :)

The kids finally couldn't stand it anymore and they had to get in the freezing water. So they stripped and climbed in. It didn't really last longer than 15 minutes or so, but it cooled them off.

Wyatt got a little crazy with his fishing skills and one time this is where his pole ended up. Daddy was nice enough to wade in and save it for him.

After a few hours we headed back down the mountain to Anderson Reservoir and spent the afternoon laying on the beach and swimming with the kids. I think we wore Daddy out though because he had to take a quick 'refresher' nap on the beach before he could swim with us. :)

It was such a fun day that reminded me that even though we're both so crazy busy right now with church stuff, family things, etc. It's still possible to make fun memories and enjoy the summer without it taking more than a few hours.

Mud Pig Wrestling

Last week Fallon and Laramie signed up to participate in the Mud Pig Wrestling for the Lincoln County Fair- I thought it sounded hilarious so we loaded up the kids and headed over to watch them. It was extremely hot out, but as you can tell Weston, Wyatt and Livvy didn't mind. Wyatt could hardly stand it because he wanted to wrestle in the mud so bad- I said maybe next year- we'll see :).

Watching the Garden Grow....

Since this is the first year I've been serious about the garden, instead of just doing it because Shelby wanted to, I'm quite proud of the results. As you can see from the above pic, we have lots growing, and only a few weeds. There are also melons, pumpkins, and zucchini that you can't see on the other side of the corn. The only problem- we've been infested with voles in our garden. NASTY little creatures that look like a large mouse to me. They creep me out. They ate two of my zucchini and I was only able to save 1. I've put poison out, but does anyone else have any experience with these little devils? I could use some tips.

Fun in the backyard

Wyatt and Livvy love to ride together on Wyatt's 4-wheeler. They go everywhere on it together and Wyatt has gotten so good at controlling it that I don't have to worry about him handling it safely. He can even back it up through the gate in our yard without touching.

Our family didn't have a tramp until after I moved out of the house, but I remember jumping on friend's tramps with the sprinkler on. Wyatt and Livvy love to do it on almost a daily basis. However, sometimes instead of wearing bathing suits, they strip naked. I do not know why- but they love it. So I apologize for the peep show if you drive by- luckily we live in the sticks. Wyatt often does unintentional back flips and Livvy absolutely cannot jump without her tongue out.- Just like her Daddy.

And It's a ........

BOY!!!!

And we're all thrilled- Especially Shelby and Wyatt. Both of them have had the biggest grins all day long. Poor Livvy cried and cried for a few minutes because she wanted a little sister so badly, but she'll come around. Now we're thinking of some great cowboy names - Any suggestions?

Wyatt is hoping for---

Yesterday Wyatt and I were laying on the couch snuggling and talking about the baby in my tummy. I told him that in two more days we were going to find out if he was having a little brother or a little sister. I asked him which he wanted and of course he said a little brother. Then after laying his head on my tummy for a few minutes, he sat up excitedly and said "OR- maybe it's a baby kitty in your tummy instead of a baby boy! Wouldn't that be too crazy Mom?"

Since I hate cats- the thought creeped me out, but isn't that just Wyatt to be hoping for a baby kitty instead of a baby brother? I love that kid.

4th of July

Our 4th of July this year was jam-packed with activities- very fun- and completely exhausting. We started the morning with a 7:30 am flag ceremony, patriotic message, and breakfast with our ward. It was a wonderful way to start the morning and I hope that they do it every year! I loved starting our day off being grateful for all those who have or are serving and fighting for my family's freedom. After the flag ceremony we headed down to the river for a fun day of BBQ's and boating. My dad recently purchased two of these jet-skis. I have never been a fan of jet-skis in the past, but had also never tried them. We have so many people in our family now that it's hard to all fit on the boat, so the jet-skis give us a break to go out with the kids and have fun. I am now converted- I had a blast on those things! Especially because I am too chicken to wake-board when I am pregnant. Some would tell me that's overly cautious- I still don't dare.

Shelby and Wyatt on the Sea-Doo. Shelby has his normal shirt on still because when we first got there the Sea-Doos had come untied from the dock, so Shelby dived in to swim to save them before they floated down to the damn and then just decided he'd leave his wet shirt on to protect from a sun burn- weirdo. Wyatt loved loved loved the jet-skis and has the biggest grin the entire time on them. If he rides with Daddy or one of his brave uncles, he gets to drive and thinks he's pretty hot stuff- he loves to turn in tight circles though- so no riding with Mommy or I know he'll make me sick!
Austin and Dawson on the Sea-Doo.
Livvy did finally ride on the 'little boats' with me, but since I was driving her, I didn't get a picture. It was not done willingly, but once we got going she loved it. She now calls it the 'little boat that is only for girls.' During our ride she started to feel a bit heavy and I looked down and she was totally sacked out! She must have been exhausted. So Grandma Turner came to the rescue and gave the Princess a nap in her arms.

Wyatt just could not get enough of all the water- below he is riding the tube for the first time with Cody and Tori. He loved it, but was not about to let go long enough to wave to Mom!

Hailey and Blake also came to town for the weekend- and since they are the favorite Aunt and Uncle (just ask the kids- they spoil them all rotten)- they always bring fun activities for the kids. This time it was a star-shaped pinata. Wyatt absolutely could not stand it- he begged all day to break that thing open. Being the red-neck family that we are- we hung it from the swing set with baling twine and the kids broke it open with an old broom stick and a piece of pipe :). They loved it.

We watched fireworks at Austin and Amber's house in town and Wyatt and Livvy had a blast doing their sparklers for the first time. Aunt Hailey had put some fun glow sticks in the pinata as well- they loved it all.

I hope that everyone else had a wonderful and eventful 4th! All the activities that day made me all the more grateful for the freedom that I have to enjoy life with my family doing all of the activities that we choose to do. God Bless America!
