"The Quest is Over"

This quote is direct from Shelby's mouth this evening "The Quest is Over." Isn't that hilarious? He's such a hunting freak. Anyway- Shelby shot his elk this afternoon after weeks of scouting, tracking, and searching. It's not the big one that he wanted to get, but still a pretty good sized 6 point, so he's happy. And I'm thrilled that I have my husband back! For a few days at least- you know he still has till December to shoot a deer and he can start trapping on Saturday....oh well :)

This is a bear track that he found in what he now calls "Bear Canyon" which only means that he now knows exactly where to shoot a bear next fall. You can't blame him for doing what he loves- right?

A few of my fave's from the wedding

Hailey finally posted pictures of the wedding, so now I can post a few of my favorites too.
Love Love Love this picture of Livvy and Hailey. The best part is that it wasn't staged. Livvy just walked over to Hailey, climbed up, and took away the bouquet, just in time for a picture. Then we made her give it back.............

This one is really only great because I love Wyatt and Dawson with their hands in their pockets.

For more pics from the fun day, see Blake and Hailey's blog on my list of Blog Buddies. By the way- they're the Dixons.

Finally! Some answers

Lately I've been worried about Wyatt (as usual). When I went to pick Wyatt up from preschool last week, his teacher informed me that she was concerned about his posture in class. He laid all over the tables, all over the floor while playing, etc. She wondered if he was getting enough sleep. This was a lightbulb for me. I had noticed this behavior a long time ago in Wyatt, but honestly was hoping that it was another thing that he would outgrow. It wasn't happening. She recommended that I make an appointment with his pediatrician. However, I haven't found a pediatrician that I like and trust since I moved to Gooding and didn't have a clue where to start. I decided to do more background research first and started with the Yahoo! Group that I belong to for parents of children with special needs. They confirmed the two scenarios that I had guessed: either sleep apnea or hypotonia. Don't worry if you don't know what they are- I only know after 4 years of research. I figured either Wyatt really was tired because he wasn't sleeping well (sleep apnea) because he gets 10-12 hours a night and 2-3 hour nap every day, or he was having problems with low muscle tone. I have secretly been dreading this diagnosis since Wyatt was little because he's always struggled with his gross motor skills and fine motor skills. SO- I prayed about what to do and how to go about finding an answer to this new- but old- problem with Wyatt. I decided to call my old pediatrician in Tremonton to consult him on what he thought as he has been with me from the beginning. He returned my call this evening, and after asking me questions for 20 minutes to be sure that he was all caught up on the changes with Wyatt during the last 18 months since we moved here, gave me his thoughts. It suddenly clicked. Wyatt does not have sleep apnea or hypotonia, although those were both the first two things that he discussed with me without me bringing them up, so I must have been on the right track. Dr. Lloyd thinks that Wyatt has a slight sensory processing problem (which I have also suspected) and when he gets overstimulated or overwhelmed, he shuts down and lays down. When things are too loud or too hard for him to do, he lays down. This was probably the way that it started, but then Wyatt has probably noticed that when he does that, people back off. Perhaps his teacher doesn't push him so hard to finish his tracing, or I don't make him finish dressing himself. Now it's probably a bit of learned- behavior issue. So- his recommendations- watch when Wyatt shuts down. Is the environment overstimulating? Then I can be understanding. Is the activity I am asking him to do too hard? Back off a little and take baby steps. Is it within Wyatt's abilities to do it? Then dont' give in and have patience to get him through it. I can't wait for Wyatt's Parent-Teacher conference next week to set some new goals with Wyatt's GREAT preschool teacher and get to work on this problem now that I understand it. I love modern medicine and doctors that actually know what they are talking about. This was so an answer to my prayers with Wyatt and the best way to handle one of the quirks that he has.

Boo! to You

Last night as the kids were getting in the bath, I heard the dog start to bark. I opened up the front door to see who was there, and scared the poor Gillette boys to death. They were trying to 'Boo' us with candy and be sneaky. I ruined their surprise and scared them stiff in the process. But seeing their faces was so priceless that I laughed and laughed. So tonight was our turn to go 'Booing' as Wyatt called it. We went shopping today and bought the candy and copied off the note. The kids could harldy stand it waiting for it to get dark so we could hit our targets. I was so proud of them- they were so sneaky! They did not talk at all and then ran so fast back to the car. We were only mildly caught as we were throwing the kids back in the Suburban, but I think it was successful. They had so much fun that I think we'll do it again tomorrow night. So for those of you that live too far away, 'BOO' to you from the Scoffield Fam.

Baby Tag

Katie tagged me like two weeks ago and I am such a slacker that I am just barely getting around to it. But after my last post- this one is much more positive :)!

  1. Where were you when you first found out you when you found out you were pregnant? With Wyatt I had to go to the hospital to get a pregnancy test that my doctor had ordered- I thought I had the flu! With Livvy, I frequented my OB-GYN's office once a week taking a pregnancy test. I KNEW I was pregnant, but the tests kept coming back negative. When I finally got a positive the nurses all threw confetti and danced around hugging me.
  2. Who was with you? I was by myself for Wyatt. Brandee was with me for Livvy.
  3. What was your first reaction? Iwas ecstatic with both of them and cried like a baby.
  4. What was your husband's reaction? He was excited too, but he never cried. I think with Wyatt he was pretty shocked.
  5. Who was the first person you told? I called my mom first with Wyatt. With Livvy, I told Brandee first and then had Wyatt wear a shirt that said 'Soon to be Big Brother' to tell everyone else.
  6. Were the pregnancies planned? Yes. But both times we didn't think I'd get pregnant as fast as I did.
  7. Was everyone happy for you? Yes.
  8. What was the sex? One of each.
  9. Did anyone throw a shower for you? I had 3 showers with Wyatt. One with the Beck family in Salt Lake, one with Shelby's family in Tremonton, and one with my family and friends in Gooding given by the Gillettes.
  10. Did you get any outfits you wouldn't use? One or two.
  11. How much weight did you gain? With Wyatt- 30 pounds. With Livvy 20. But getting it off has been a different story.
  12. Did you get stretch marks? Some of the worst my doctor has ever seen. They got little blisters all over them.
  13. Did you crave anything crazy? Not really, but living in a small town really sucked when I saw something I really wanted on a commercial.
  14. Who or what got on your nerves the most? I threw up 6-10 times a day every day until I was 5 months with both kids. Those of you who just get nauseous have no idea how good you have it.
  15. Where were you when you went into labor? I was induced at the Brigham City Hospital with both kids.
  16. Did you have any complications? Nope. I'm a labor machine- they just slide out.
  17. Did your water break? No.
  18. Who drove you to the hospital? Shelby
  19. Did you go early or late? I was induced one week early with both kids.
  20. Who was in the room? Just me and my hubby.
  21. Did you video tape it? Nope
  22. Did you have any pain medication? I am pretty much an avid epidural fan.
  23. Did you have a c-section or natural? Natural with both.
  24. What was your reaction to the birth? Both times I was so impressed at what a miracle it is that my body could do that and that Heavenly Father entrusts me with such sweet angels.
  25. How big was the baby. Wyatt was 7 lbs 14 oz. and Livvy was 7 lbs. 11 oz.
  26. Did your husband cry? No, but he was so excited and I think he kinda went into shock after Wyatt was born :).
  27. When is the next one coming? We're still discussing it.
  28. If you could would you do it all over again? Yes in a second! It is worth every pound, stretch mark and sleepless night! I love being a mom and would not trade it for anything! Although it would be so much better if you could do it without the pounds, stretch marks, throwing up, and sleepless nights. I would probably be pregnant right now if that were the case :)

I tag Brooke, Hannah, Lisa Bloxham.

Sick of Being a Doormat

So- I apologize in advance- nobody read this- just skip over my rant and rave that I have to get off my chest. It has come to my attention this evening that I am a doormat. I let people walk all over me all the time. They dump on me, go behind my back, and pretty much treat me like crap. And I say......nothing. I swallow it and go on acting like nothing ever happens while instead I am SEETHING. I am tired of doing favors for friends and family- not little favors mind you- and then getting treated like crap or like I don't matter, or like my activities don't matter. Since when did I tattoo-'Walk all over me- I like being treated like dirt' on my forehead?

I feel slightly better............................I think. Maybe I'm just exhausted from doing Super Saturday today. It went great by the way.

All my 'Always and Forever' buds- you know who you are- leave me a comment to feel better huh? And you all thought my 'blog life' was all roses and chocolates didn't you?

The Toothless Wonder

You'll never believe it! My little Wyatt has lost his first tooth! I came home last night from watching my sisters play volleyball and Shelby informed me that Wyatt's tooth was really loose. So I looked at it and was SHOCKED! It was hanging there by a thread! So we don't know if he hit it on something or what, but we're surprised! Wyatt was early to get teeth- 2 months, and maybe he's early to lose his teeth too- who knows?
The sad part is that last night I tried and tried to pull it out before he went to bed because I knew he would lose it while he was asleep. But Wyatt kept telling me 'Mom- my tooth will fall out all by itself when it is ready. Then a new big kid tooth will grow in' :). This morning he woke up and the tooth was still there, but an hour later it was gone. I have no idea when it fell out- probably while he was eating breakfast, but the first lost baby tooth has disappeared. Darn it! I promised Wyatt that the tooth fairy would still find our house tonight and we'd just leave her a note instead of a tooth.

Painting Pumpkins

We have so many pumpkins around our house- from the ones that we picked last weekend with Grandma Wendy and Grandpa Jon to the ones we picked out of our own garden- we ARE the pumpkin patch! So I decided to put a few of them to good use- entertaining Wyatt and Livvy. We decided to paint faces on the pumpkins, which started off as a good idea and ended up more of a smearfest.
This is all of the artistic ability I am capable of- sad I know.

This is the back of Livvy's pumpkin- when she saw my face she wanted one too that was pink! I don't know why it's turned weird-Blogger sometimes has weird quirks.

We Heart Pumpkins

Last weekend we finally got to go to Tremonton for the weekend. We had so much fun seeing all of our friends and family. Grandma Wendy and Grandpa Jon made sure to make time to take the kids to pick pumpkins at the pumpkin patch.

Livvy wanted a 'little baby pumkin'
Wyatt and Livvy with the load of pumpkins we picked.
Daddy and Livvy playing in the backyard at Grandma Wendy's. Wheeeee!
Wyatt's turn. I love the white socks by the way Shelb- they're hot :)
Uncle Steven and Wyatt and Livvy at Shelby's grandparents' 90th birthday party on Saturday. We were all dressed up for family pictures that day. Livvy is showing off her sparkly princess shoes.

Behold- this is a rare- maybe two or three times in a lifetime shot of Shelby, his Dad Jon, and brother Steven. They just don't do pictures. AND Shelby is smiling. Whoa. They're just missing Elder Scoffield- 1 more year and we'll make them do it again huh Shane? cackle-cackle.

It was so fun to spend time with all of those awesome Tremontites and I can't wait to get down there again soon. Love you all!

Lately I'm Tagalicious!

I had to take pictures of 1. kitchen sink 2. my favorite room 3. fridge 4. closet 5. laundry room 6. self portrait 7. kids 8. dream vacation 9. favorite shoes 10. the bathroom WITH NO CLEANING OR MAKING BEAUTIFUL. Scary.
So here goes:

I love our Living Room. It's huge so the kids can run and play and my hideous blue carpet hides dirt pretty well. Please don't notice the pile of toilet paper on the couch. Wyatt decided it would be fun to throw the roll like a ball today. The result is the pile that gets to sit on the couch until I've wiped enough noses. It'll probably be gone by the end of the day :). I know it looks full, but there's really nothing good to eat in there...... My everything hall closet. Everything that doesn't have a real home lives here. You'll see my sheets here, my beach towels, games, my canning that can't fit in the pantry, coolers, suitcases, you name it- it's here.
My laundry room. Complete with some trash that Shelby needs to take out. By the way, this is the third picture that has had a huge ball in it. That's the story of my life- they are EVERYWHERE! Thank you Grandma Wendy.
Aren't I beautiful? The puckered face is supposed to distract you from the fact that I have no makeup on. I know....it doesn't work.
Right here is supposed to be a picture of my kids. However, they are both asleep at the moment and I refuse to wake them up to take their picture.

This is my dream vacation. It's kinda a crappy picture, but that's okay because I don't really know where it is. Just a beautiful secluded white beach with the ocean and hopefully Shelby and a private hut nearby.

I couldnt' decide on my favorite shoes. The first ones are my fave church shoes, then my favorite 'I feel hot boots', my fave sandals, and my fave everday boots.

My bathroom. This is very careful camera maneuvering.

I now tag Molly, Hailey, Amy and Lori.
