A boy's mind

Today on the way home from church I asked the kids, as always, what they learned in their respective classes. Following was my conversation with Wyatt:

Me: Wyatt- what did you learn today in your class?
Wyatt: I learned about ....... GUNS!
Me: What? You did not- you silly. What did you learn about?
Wyatt: I learned about.....Bows and Arrows!
Me: Wyatt- you did not! What did your teacher teach you in class?
Wyatt: About.......LASERS!
Me: Wyatt- you're crazy! Your teacher didn't teach you about lasers. Think hard- what did you talk about in class?
Wyatt: I remember-----SNOWMOBILES!

All I have to say about this is: "Like Father, Like Son."

Mr. Wyatt's new tricks and Imagination

Wyatt has been trying for a long time to learn how to jump on one leg. Just still trying to catch up with his gross motor skills. But with the help of the tramp, he's got it! Here he is showing off:

This is just a little peek into Wyatt's imagination. He is so fun to watch learn and discover.

.

Livvy- Future Rockstar

Livvy has been learning to trace right along with Wyatt. Normally she does very well, on this video she is a little distracted by the camera. So she'll sing for you instead, note the poor girl's hoarse voice from being so sick.

What's up with us....

So I decided that I've been a pretty sucky blog poster lately, but to be honest life around here has been pretty lame. Livvy got sick last Thursday and it just snowballed from there into Bronchitis and double ear infections. So, needless to say, we have accomplished nothing this week. Actually, that's not true, we have watched an insane amount of Dora, Strawberry Shortcake, and Tinkerbell :). And my recliner has a permanent butt impression from me holding and rocking her. Shelby gave her a blessing last night because she just seemed to continually be getting worse every day despite the antibiotics and ear drops. She finally slept through the night last night and I'm crossing my fingers will feel better today.

However, we are not without our laughs. On Monday night Shelby loaded up the kids and came to watch my volleyball team during our tournament. Livvy was still sick, so they only stayed for a few minutes and kinda hid in a corner, but the kids thought it was cool to watch Mommy. One time I dived for a ball on the floor and Wyatt told his Dad 'Oh no! Look Mommy fell and missed the ball. It's okay- she's still learning!" Thanks Wyatt.

Enjoying the Good Times

I have the best friends. Period. I had a great one call me today to check on Wyatt just because she knew that he'd been struggling last week. It just touched me that somebody else noticed and remembered. Wyatt has many odd characteristics that make him 'special'. Most of them we don't understand or really know how to deal with except just to struggle through them and hope the next day is better. Point in case- last week out of the blue Wyatt totally regressed. He went through three days of potty accidents, not being able to dress himself, acting totally deaf (he could hear me, but it was like his reaction time was sooooo slow), and just overall shutting down his perfect and fun little personality. I don't know what triggers these episodes. I can't think of anything unusual that happened, his routine didn't change, and I don't have a clue if he ate something that could have triggered it because I don't think he's allergic to anything. Just a random occurence. So we struggled for three days to get back on track. And pretty much I cried through the whole three days. Then slowly but surely, like he was trying to hike out of the fog, he overcame the symptoms one by one. He now has all of his stuffed animals and blankets back (for those of you who understand his discipline system), totally dressed himself yesterday, and was back to pretending all day yesterday to be a bunny doctor with his sister. The best part of my day was the 10-15 times that he came up to me, wrapped his arms around me, sighed and said 'Oh Mommy, I love you.' Having not heard that for three days, it was like heavenly choirs to my hears. 'Sweet boy, I love you too.'

Conversations

Livvy has been quite insightful and hilarious lately. Tonight we took a quick trip into town to get some last minute provisions for Shelby's trip to California. Both conversations happened on the way into and home from town:

First:

Livvy is jabbering on her purple toy phone: 'Ring Ring' Hello this is Dallas. How are you? That's perfect!!!! (Very excitedly). Hangs up.
Wyatt: 'Who was that on your phone Livvy?'
Livvy: "Thumbelina. She's a princess.'
Wyatt: 'Can I talk on your phone?'
Livvy: Yeah (gives him the phone)
Wyatt: I am going to call Buzz Lightyear. (Livvy then snatches the phone back)
Livvy: NO! Buzz Lightyear is not my friend. You can only call my girl friends on my phone.

Lesson Learned: Boys are not allowed to be Livvy's friends- only girls. All boys are Wyatt's friends. Also- the purple phone has a direct line to Thumbelina. Lastly- Dallas talks on the phone too much.

Second:

Wyatt: 'Mom- where does the tooth fairy live?'
DAD: 'In Fairyland' (quick on his toes that Daddy)
-Pause-
Wyatt: Is heaven in the clouds?
Livvy: No Wyatt---- Heaven is at our house.

Lesson Learned: Our home should feel like heaven to my kids. No yelling allowed. Also- I also have always wondered where the Tooth Fairy lives. If you know.....fill us in.

The Man of my Dreams- only I didn't know it

A while back I found this cute little envelope in one of my old journals that had a list of the qualities that I wanted in my future sweetheart- I'm pretty sure I wrote it when I was 15. Following is the list:

  • Can take me to the temple
  • Returned missionary
  • Sense of humor
  • Good with children
  • Treats me like a queen
  • Treats his mother well
  • Financially stable
  • Firm testimony
  • Kind
  • My dad likes him
  • Good dancer
  • Spontaneous
  • Forgiving
  • Understanding
  • Hardworking

I sort of laughed when I opened this and read it. It's Shelby to a T. The only ones that are questionable that we are working on is good dancer and treats his mother well- sometimes they butt heads. You never know how wise you are at 15.

25 Random Things

I don't think I am interesting enough to come up with 25 things about me- let's see.

1. I absolutely adore Pepsi. However, I haven't had one for over 3 weeks- this butt has to get smaller somehow. I actually think that they should invent a Pepsi shot that when you need it- I mean REALLY need it- you can just shoot it up.
2. I have the coolest freakin friends in the world. They range everywhere from New York to Texas, to Alaska, but I know that if I ever needed them- everyone one of them would be there for me.
3. I'm addicted to Jazzercise- I hate to miss.
4. My kids make me laugh every day. I don't know where they learn the stuff that they do, but they're hilarious.
5. I pray everyday for the strength and knowledge to know how to best help my Mr. Wyatt to grow and improve. Then I pray for patience with Livvy :).
6. I have horrendous pregnancies. I throw up 5-10 times a day for the first 6 months and then I get huge stretch marks with blisters on them. It's pure torture.
7. My toes are frozen solid every night when I get in bed- my poor toasty husband.
8. I am a worry wart. I worry about everything including if my kids got enough vegetables that day to if we have enough life insurance.
9. I secretly want another baby- like pronto.
10. I love being back in touch with so many people from high school and college via Facebook and blogs- I love knowing what everyone's lives are like.
11. I love pepper jack cheese.
12. I drive a suburban and I only have 2 kids. But I fill it up with stuff that we use and luggage whenever we go everywhere. And I love that when I go places with family or friends we can all pile in my 'Burb and go together.
13. I love my in-laws. They are all so fun and since we lived in Tremonton for three years I became so close to them and spent so much time with all of them.
14.One of my all time favorite memories is dancing in the rain like a crazy woman- with my roommies in college.
15. I loved Girls' Camp. Given the choice I would have that calling right now.
16. My current calling is Relief Society pianist- how freakin great is that?
17. I am a total cryer. I cry when I'm happy, stressed, tired, grumpy, mad, sentimental- you name it- I bawl.
18. The number one thing that makes me cry and that I appreciate more than anything is people who love Wyatt (almost everyone I know) but who notice his progress or notice the really special things that make him the coolest kid I know. It's awesome to know that I'm not the only one who notices those things.
19. I love dressing Livvy up. She's like my life-size Barbie. I love trying new hairstyles on her, buying her clothes, bows, bracelets. It's my obsession.
20. My middle name is Louise. My grandmother's name is Louise, and Livvy's middle name is Louise. In my family we are called the three 'Weaz's' which is also what my nickname was through junior high and high school.
21. The top three things I would change about me- thicker hair, smaller boobs, and eyebrows that I never had to pluck.
22. I can speed read- If I am into a book I can put it away like nobody's business. So I love sites like Paperbackswap.com and the library that let me read my favorite books cheaply.
23. I also love my 'smut'. I love to read the tabloid magazines and the crappy chick shows on tv. My current faves are Grey's Anatomy, Army Wives, Private Practice, Jon & Kate plus 8, One Tree Hill, The Hills, Desperate Housewives......I don't want to name anymore because I know you're all thinking- is that all she does is watch tv?.......Shut up.
24. I love my business. It's slowing down right now because of the economy, but it still gives me motivation to learn new things and dedication to growing it. When I get my checks every month I feel like I'm a success- I don't know why I don't get that from dishes and laundry....
25. Shelby is my favorite thing. I can't believe that there is a person out there that is so polar opposite to me, but we fit. He keeps me grounded and sane. He makes me laugh- He's the best dad and best of all - he's a Kick-A kisser :)
