Wyatt- the Shelby mini-me

Two Saturdays ago, Shelby was getting up early to go out in the wilderness not far from our house and set bear baits. He was up and getting ready about 6:15, when Wyatt decided to wake up. The next thing I heard was Wyatt kissing me on the cheek saying "Bye Mom- I'm gonna go shoot bears with Dad. Don't miss me too much!" I knew that it wasn't in Shelby's plans to take Wyatt, so I hurried and got my lazy bum out of bed to see what was going on. Indeed, Shelby had told Wyatt that he could go- and you have never seen a more excited little boy (or daddy actually). Shelby had dressed him head to toe with his cowboy hat, chaps, boots. Wyatt started bossing me around telling me 'Hurry and pack me some breakfast mom! Hurry and pack me some snacks Mom! I've gotta go hunting!" He made sure to grab his gun and bullets and I just had to take this quick picture before he skipped off outside following his Dad.

I found Wyatt in my office the other day hard at work. It was all I could do not to crack up and ruin the moment. Shelby has seriously brain-washed this little boy. But what's more special than a little boy who wants nothing more than to be like his awesome Daddy?

Easter Finally

Livvy and Dawson at the Gooding City Easter Egg Hunt. Wyatt was too old for the youngest group of hunters, so his Grandma and Grandpa Scoffield took him to his area.

After church on Sunday the kids found their Easter baskets that the Easter Bunny had hidden. Wyatt found his, but then got stuck behind Mom's bed.

Both kids received new kites from the Easter Bunny and were so excited to try them out in the EXTREME wind. Needless to say their $1 kites didnt' go so great, but just look at the smile on Wyatt's face in the second picture- they loved it.

Big News.......

Ignore the crazy hair- they'd just woken up from a nap :)
That's right folks! The Scoffield family is expecting again! We're due December 17th. (Not very good planning I know) and we are THRILLED! That's putting it mildly.

Prom

My sister Fallon went to prom last weekend, so Livvy and I went on a 'girls night out' to the Grand March so that she could see all the beautiful princesses. She 'ooohed' and 'aahhhed' at every couple that came through. She loved every minute of it. Fallons' dress stole the show. To put it simply- she looked SMOKIN! Here she is below with her date Justin and a picture of the back of her dress as well. My favorite is the feathers in her hair and the sweet hairdo courtesy of my other sister Afton. You look awesome sis!

Livvy- Preschool girl

Livvy started preschool last week. She goes two days a week in the afternoon. She rides the bus to school alone, but on the way home she rides with all of the big kids. The first day- the bus freaked her out. But now she has her special toys packed in her backpack along with a 'Be Brave' sucker. Plus her bus driver Gary told her that her hair looks pretty, so she decided that they could be friends. :) She's so excited to be tracing her letters, learning new songs, and making new friends.

Happy Birthday You Old Old Old Old Man

Shelby turned 30 today. Enough said. I've been giving my loving husband lots of crap all day- all week actually. But I know he's going to give it back in full force in a few more years :)
A few things about Shelby:
What are his hobbies? Bow hunting, trapping, riding his four-wheeler, working on old crappy trucks, snowmobiling, breaking colts, and more....I can't actually list them all- he has more hobbies than anyone else I know.
My first impression of him: I knew from the moment that I met Shelby that he was the one I was going to marry. I met him at Country Dancing night up at the college and my brother had been trying to get me to meet him for weeks. His hot blue eyes and rippling muscles totally did it for me. I went home and announced to all my roommates that I would be marry this guy......and I did. Mission Accomplished.

My favorite things about him:

He refuses to fight with me. No matter how grumpy I might be, he always remains calm.
He loves to spend time with his kids. It doesn't matter what we are doing, Shelby can make it so fun for the kids. He truly enjoys spending time with them and is always happy to take them wherever he is going or let them help him.

He is so handy! He can build just about anything or fix whatever is broken. I LOVE not having to call a repairman or take my car into the shop. I have my own handsome repairman at home.

He would rather spend time with me. Shelby is slightly anti-social :) and sometimes it drives me crazy (as I am NOT), but it is really nice to know that given the option, he would always rather go on a date with just me, or stay home and hang out with kids.

He is one of the hardest workers I know. It doesn't matter how many hours he has to put in or what kind of task he has to do, he will do it to the best of his ability.

He loves me and only me. He makes me feel beautiful and loved every day. I can't think of anything better.

Wyatt and the Developmental Pediatrician

We headed to Salt Lake on Monday for Wyatt's appointment with a Developmental Pediatric Specialist at the University of Utah. We didn't have any breakthroughs, but I didn't expect any. Mostly we ended up with a great plan going forward and confirmation that what we've done in the past and are currently doing was all that we could do for Wyatt.

1) Wyatt's problems probably stem from his genetics. However, she recommended that we wait 5 or 10 years to get his genetics tested and evaluated because that information isn't of real value to us until Wyatt is ready to have his own children.

2) She recommended that we have him psychologically evaluated by both the school district and a private psychologist to determine the gaps in between what he can do and what he is doing, but thought we should wait a year to do it. It will also help determine the various learning disabilities that she suspects that he has and give tips for his future teachers and us on how to help him learn best.

3) She agreed with me that Wyatt stay home for another year and continue with his preschool, speech therapy, and occupational therapy and then go to kidnergarten next year.

4) She also said that there was a chance that when he does get his evaluation next year he may be diagnosed as PDD-NOS (Pervasive Development Disorder- Not Otherwise Specified) which really means that he is at the very top of the Autism spectrum and they really don't have another classification for children like him. However, she said that if he did fall in this category he would be one of the most mildly autistic children she'd ever seen get that label. For the Wikipedia definition click here.

So, overall, lots of good information. It felt good to hear that all of the things medically, educationally, and at home that we've done have been right on. We'll just press forward for a year and see how much progress we can make and then plan for the testing in a year from now.
